Barguna, Oct 03 (V7N)- The biggest religious festival for the Sanatan Hindu community, Autumn Durga Puja , is set to begin on October 8 and will continue until October 13 . Across the country, preparations are in full swing, and the potters are working tirelessly to complete their tasks. According to the Puja Udjar Parishad , a total of 122 Durga Puja mandaps have been set up in Barguna district for this year’s celebrations.

In the six upazilas of Barguna, Durga Puja is being organized at:
- 22 mandaps in Barguna Sadar ,
- 9 in Amtali ,
- 9 in Taltali ,
- 14 in Bamana ,
- 38 in Patharghata , and
- 30 in Betagi .

A visit to various mandaps revealed that the preparations are almost complete. Most of the idols are finished, and the artisans, lighting experts, and decorators are working at full pace to meet the deadlines. Local volunteers have also joined in to assist with the final touches.

Abhi Karmakar , an idol artist, shared his experience, saying, "I create idols every year for Durga Puja. Although the cost of materials has increased this year, I have made every effort to provide good-quality idols at the most affordable prices. I expanded my work this year and completed the idols by working day and night. The idols will soon be handed over to the puja committees."

Jaydev Roy , the member secretary of the Barguna District Puja Celebration Parishad , confirmed that all preparations for the 122 mandaps across the six upazilas are now complete. Meetings have been held with the district and police administrations to ensure security throughout the festival. He assured that law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant, and volunteer teams from political parties and local organizations have stepped forward to provide additional support.

Everyone is hopeful that this year’s Durga Puja in Barguna will be celebrated peacefully in a joyous and festive atmosphere.
