Habiganj, Oct 05 (V7N)- In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, Camp Commander Major Md. Shaheen Alam of the Shahjibazar Army Camp held an exchange meeting with journalist leaders from three upazilas of Habiganj. The meeting, aimed at coordinating efforts to ensure the safety and security of the festival, took place at the Shahjibazar Army Camp in Madhavpur upazila.

During the discussion, Major Shaheen Alam emphasized the army's commitment to providing robust security throughout the festival. He highlighted that the army, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, will be patrolling the 210 Durga Puja mandaps in the region, including 78 in Chunarughat , 113 in Madhavpur , and 19 in Shaistaganj . "We will ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the celebrations. The safety of all communities, including those in tea gardens, is our priority," Major Shaheen Alam assured.

He also addressed issues like illegal sand mining, arms recovery, and extortion, urging journalists to cooperate by providing specific information on these activities. "The army is ready to take strict action against any illegal activities and ensure that the festival is celebrated peacefully," he added.

The meeting was attended by prominent local journalists, including Mohiuddin Ahmed , President of Madhavpur Press Club, former president Rukon Uddin Lashkar , NTV representative Jamal Md. Abu Nacher , Dinkal representative Alamgir Kabir , Shaistaganj Press Club President Moinul Hasan Ratan , General Secretary Md. Kamrul Hasan , and many others from various print and electronic media.

The army's initiative to involve local journalists in the security efforts has been well-received, with attendees pledging to cooperate in maintaining peace and harmony during Durga Puja.

Special security measures, including heightened patrols by law enforcement and army forces, have been put in place by the upazila and police administrations to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration of Durga Puja in the region.
