Comilla, Oct 08 (V7N) — A Bangladeshi man, Kamal Hossain, was shot and killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near Jashpur BOP in Paharpur village of Goliara North Union, Sadar Dakshin Upazila, Comilla, on Monday evening. Kamal, a resident of Kuriapara village in the same upazila, reportedly entered the Indian border where the shooting took place.

Lt. Col. Iftekhar Hossain, Commanding Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 10 Battalion in Comilla, confirmed the incident and stated that discussions are ongoing with BSF authorities regarding the return of Kamal's body.

According to Kamal's brother, Hiron Mia, the incident occurred when Kamal ventured 25 yards inside Indian territory at the Paharpur border near the Jashpur BGB camp. Following the shooting, BSF personnel took Kamal's body in an Indian ambulance. Local residents claim Kamal illegally crossed the barbed wire fence into India, where he was shot and killed on the spot.

Despite requests to the Jashpur BGB camp for the repatriation of the body, Kamal's family is still waiting for its return. Sadar Dakshin Police Station OC Md. Rafiqul Islam stated that the police have not yet been officially informed of the incident.

Efforts to resolve the situation and bring Kamal's body back to Bangladesh are ongoing.
