Patharghata, Oct 09 (V7N) — A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Mother Hilsa Conservation Campaign 2024 was held on Tuesday at noon in the hall room of Patharghata Upazila Parishad, Barguna. The meeting aimed to ensure the successful implementation of conservation efforts during the hilsa fish's main breeding season from October 13 to November 3 .

The meeting was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Roknuzzaman Khan , who urged all fishermen, local chairmen, members, and other stakeholders to adhere to government regulations during this critical period to protect the hilsa population. The conservation campaign is designed to safeguard the breeding process of hilsa, which plays a vital role in sustaining the species.

Among those present at the meeting were Patharghata Police Officer-in-Charge Mehedi Hasan , Upazila Agriculture Officer Shawkat Hossain , Kakchira Naval Police Incharge AHM Lutfar Rahman , and Journalist Shafiqul Islam Khokon .

The program was conducted by Patharghata Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Md. Hasibul Haque , who emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring the success of the campaign.

With the breeding season approaching, the meeting served as a crucial platform for officials and local leaders to collaborate and create strategies to prevent overfishing and protect hilsa during this sensitive time.
