Dhaka, Oct 25 (V7N) – Train services faced extensive delays after the Panchagarh Express, an intercity train heading to Panchagarh, derailed near Dhaka Railway Station. The derailment, which occurred at approximately 12:30 pm on Thursday, caused disruptions throughout the night, stranding passengers at various stations awaiting service resumption.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Panchagarh Express departed Dhaka about 30 minutes later than scheduled. A sudden jolt was felt just minutes after leaving the platform, halting the train. Inspection revealed that three coaches had derailed due to a broken line sheet, causing the wheels to fall off the track. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the train was moving slowly at the time of the incident.

Following a night-long rescue operation, train movement resumed at around 9:30 am on Friday. However, as of this morning, the schedule board at Dhaka Railway Station displayed significant delays for several key trains. The Dhumketu Express, initially scheduled to depart at 6 am, is now expected to leave at 10:20 am. Other delayed trains include the Tourist Express, now set for 9:40 am; Parabat Express, scheduled for 10:40 am; and the Nilsagar Express and Sundarban Express, both rescheduled for 10 am.

Passengers are advised to stay updated on revised schedules as the railway operations gradually return to normal following the incident.
