Patuakhali, Nov 20 (V7N) – World Children's Day was observed in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali on Wednesday with a range of activities aimed at raising awareness about children's rights and social issues affecting them.

The celebration began with a colorful rally on the road adjacent to the market of Tiakhali Union. Themed *“Every Child's Right, Protect Our Promise,”* the rally saw participation from people of various professions, including teachers and students. It was organized by Ekta and Emerging Village Development Organization and Student Club under the initiative of the non-governmental organization Faith in Action.

Following the rally, an awareness meeting was held at Mujib Qilla in East Tiakhali village. The session was chaired by Project Manager Anik Roni Dutta and attended by Upazila Women Affairs Officer Taslima Akhter and Youth Development Officer Swapan Kumar Sarkar, who addressed the audience.

Speakers highlighted the importance of ensuring children’s safety, preventing drug addiction, and eliminating child marriage. They urged parents, teachers, and community members to remain vigilant in protecting the rights and welfare of children.

As part of the initiative to combat child marriage, red cards were distributed among the students, symbolizing a collective stance against the practice.

The event was lauded as a meaningful step toward fostering awareness and promoting a safer environment for children in Kalapara.
