Savar, Jan 11 (V7N) – Police have arrested the drivers of a bus and an ambulance in connection with a tragic road accident on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar that claimed the lives of four people, including a woman and a child.

The arrests were confirmed by Savar Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saugatul Alam on Saturday (January 11). The bus driver was apprehended from Gabtoli Bus Terminal in Dhaka, while the ambulance driver was arrested from Konabari, Gazipur.

The detainees are:

Jahid Hasan (21) – Ambulance driver, resident of Suti Langal Jora village, Gopalpur, Tangail.

Zahirul Islam (44) – Shyamoli Paribahan bus driver, from Chawlia village, Birganj, Dinajpur.

On the night of January 8 (Wednesday), an ambulance traveling from Tangail to Dhaka met with a fatal accident at Rajfulbaria on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway. The ambulance was struck from behind by two buses—one from Jhumur Paribahan and another from Shyamoli Paribahan.

The collision caused the immediate deaths of:

Faruk Hossain, Head Teacher at Bhavandatta Government Primary School, Ghatail, Tangail.

His son, Fuad Siddique.

His wife, Sonia Akter (30).

His sister-in-law, Mahfuza Akter Shila.

Following the fatal incident, a case was filed against the involved parties.

OC Saugatul Alam stated, "The arrested individuals have been presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court with a petition for a seven-day remand to aid in further investigation."
