Bagerhat, Jan 20 (V7N) - Mongla Port is set to auction 70 luxury reconditioned cars on Monday, following their prolonged detention due to importers failing to release them. The vehicles, including models like Alien, Fielder, Hybrid, Prado Land Cruiser, Vessel, and Harrier, have been transferred to Mongla Customs House for sale.
According to the Traffic Department of the Mongla Port Authority, the cars remained at the port beyond the stipulated 30-day limit for storage in car yards and sheds after import. Consequently, the decision was made to auction the vehicles to free up space and prevent further damage.
Md. Makruzzaman, Deputy Director (Board and Public Relations Department) of the Mongla Port Authority, highlighted the growing car imports facilitated by improved connectivity due to the Padma Bridge. He added, “These cars were left unattended for a long time, wasting valuable space and risking damage. Selling them through auction is essential to maintain port efficiency.”
The auction is expected to attract attention from interested buyers looking for premium vehicles at competitive prices.
