Pabna, Jan 24, (V7N) - Ibrahim Hossain, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, was injured in an attack allegedly carried out by members of the banned organization, Chhatra League.

The incident occurred around 10 PM on Thursday (January 23) in front of Ishwardi Government College, Pabna. Following the attack, police have increased security in the area.

Ibrahim, the son of Abdus Salam from Purba Tengri, Ishwardi Municipality, is a first-year honors student at Pabna Government Edward College.

According to local and police sources, Ibrahim and a friend were having tea near the college when they were attacked by a group of 3-4 individuals armed with sticks. The attackers fled after locals intervened. Ibrahim, injured in the assault, was taken to the Upazila Health Complex for first aid.

In a live Facebook video, Ibrahim accused Shakil Hossain, the general secretary of the Chhatra League's Ward No. 6 unit, and his associates of carrying out the attack. Ibrahim claimed that Shakil attempted to shoot him with a firearm, but he managed to escape as locals arrived.

Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam Shahid stated, "We responded promptly and have deployed additional police for security. An investigation into the attack is underway."

As of Friday morning (11 AM), no formal complaint had been filed. The OC assured that appropriate action would be taken once a written complaint is received.
