Tangail, February 12, (V7N) – Three Awami League leaders, including the chairman of the Union Parishad, were taken into custody by police in Kalihati, Tangail, as part of a "Devil Hunt" operation. The arrests took place during operations conducted in different parts of the upazila on Tuesday, February 11, and Sunday, February 10.
The people who were detained include Ismail Hossain, the vice-president of Ward 5 of the Kokdhara Union Awami League; Shahidul Islam, the president of Ward 1 of the Durgapur Union Awami League; and Masud Talukdar, the vice-president of the Kalihati Upazila Awami League and chairman of the Narandia Union Parishad.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kalam Bhuiyan of the Kalihati Police Station attested that the arrested persons were transported to court following the filing of routine charges against them.
