Rajshahi, Feb 13 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami of being consistently hypocritical. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a memorial event marking the 23rd death anniversary of martyr Professor Abdul Wahed Mondal at Taherpur High School grounds in Bagmara Upazila, Rajshahi, on Wednesday (Feb 12) at 5:30 PM.
Rizvi stated, "We never supported Jamaat. They were given a political platform in Bangladesh only because of BNP’s generosity. But they have always acted hypocritically and contributed nothing beyond deception."
Criticizing Jamaat’s past actions, he added, "The party that fired upon students and innocent civilians, indiscriminately killing them—Jamaat—is now willing to forgive the Awami League? Abu Sayeed, how can you forget the bloodshed in Mugda?"
Addressing Jamaat directly, he questioned, "Sheikh Hasina is staying in India without a passport or visa, making statements against Bangladesh and inciting unrest. Has that India suddenly become dear to you? It’s deeply regrettable."
The event was presided over by Taherpur Municipality BNP President Abu Nayem Md. Shamsur Rahman Mintu. Special guests included BNP National Executive Committee Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Rajshahi Division Organizing Secretary Shahin Shawkat, District BNP Convener Abu Sayeed Chand, Member Secretary Bishwanath Sarkar, Rajshahi Metropolitan Convener Ershad Ali Isha, and Member Secretary Mamunur Rashid.
