Khulna, Feb 22(V7N)- Khulna celebrated Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day-2025 with humility and respect and due respect (Friday). On the occasion of the day, various programs were organized by the Khulna district administration.
In the early hours of Ekushey, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Metropolitan and District Units, Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, Range DIG of Police Md. Rezaul Haque, KMP Police Commissioner Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider, KCC Administrator, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, Agricultural University, District Council, Khulna Betar, KDA, Chamber of Commerce, Bar Association, various government departments, student representatives of the anti-discrimination movement, Khulna Press Club, educational institutions, political party leaders, professional organizations and leaders of social, cultural and literary organizations paid tribute by placing wreaths at the Shahid Minar in Shahid Hadis Park in the city.
With the sunrise, the national flag was kept at half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous, private institutions and buildings and educational institutions. Students of educational institutions offered wreaths at the Shaheed Minar with the help of a morning procession.
Children's drawing and writing competition, discussion meeting and prize distribution were held at the Nagar Bhaban organized by the City Corporation. Khulna City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Laskar Tajul Islam distributed the prizes as the president of the program.
In the afternoon, on the occasion of the day, at the initiative of the district administration, in the discussion meeting held at the premises of the Divisional Government Public Library in Boyara, Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, in his speech as the chief guest, said that the Bengali language should be given priority in all fields. Not only on February 21, but we should keep the Bengali language in our hearts throughout the year. Many people use this language in a distorted way. We should practice proper use of the language and standard Bengali.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mandal spoke at the program chaired by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam. The welcome speech was delivered by Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, Principal Librarian-cum-Deputy Director of the Divisional Government Public Library.
In the evening, a discussion meeting, cultural program, poetry recitation, drawing and writing competition awards were held at Shahid Hadith Park on the occasion of the great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day.
