Khagrachari, Chittagong Hill Tracts,  Apr 10 (V7N)– Brigadier General Sharif Md. Aman Hasan, Khagrachari Region Commander, lauded local journalists for their significant role as partners in fostering peace, harmony, stability, and development within the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Brigadier General made these remarks during a visit to the Khagrachari Journalists Union (KUJ) office in Khagrachari city on Thursday afternoon, where he met with leaders of the organization.

"Local journalists are playing a unique role as partners in peace, harmony, stability and development in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Khagrachari Region Commander Brigadier General Sharif Md. Aman Hasan has commented that he has had the opportunity to see the issue closely while performing his state duties," a statement from the Khagrachari Journalists Union confirmed.

Brigadier Aman Hasan emphasized that his experience while serving in the region has provided him with a close understanding of the crucial contribution of journalists. He also urged reporters to uphold professionalism in their reporting to safeguard the sovereignty, harmony, and coexistence of the diverse communities within the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

"Brigadier Aman Hasan also called for reporting the news with professionalism to ensure the sovereignty, harmony and coexistence of the Chittagong Hill Tracts," the statement added.

During the Brigadier General's visit, Khagrachhari Region GSO 2 Int. Major Kazi Mostafa Arefin was also present, along with key leaders of the Khagrachari Journalists Union, including President Shahriar Yunus, General Secretary Ishteyak Ahmed Nipu, and Vice President Kanan Acharya. Other union members and professional journalists from the region also attended the meeting.

"At that time, Khagrachhari Region GSO 2 Int. Major Kazi Mostafa Arefin, Khagrachhari Journalists Union President Shahriar Yunus, General Secretary Ishteyak Ahmed Nipu, Vice President Kanan Acharya, other union members and professional journalists were present," a KUJ representative noted.

The Brigadier General's comments underscore the importance of the media in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, a region with a complex history and diverse ethnic populations. His recognition of journalists as partners in the area's progress highlights the collaborative role the press plays in promoting understanding and stability.
