DHAKA, April 14, (V7N) – A vibrant Baisakhi Fair has commenced on the Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Bangla Academy, to mark the celebration of Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year.
The fair was inaugurated today by Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan and Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, who emphasized the unity and festive spirit of the nation. Adilur Rahman Khan remarked that “from the hills to the plains, the whole country is in a festive mood,” while noting that Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra is taking place nationwide with the participation of all.
Farooki praised the inclusive environment created by the interim government, stating that people from all regions—plains and hills alike—are celebrating together. “With everyone’s cooperation, we have started dreaming of a new Bangladesh,” he said.
The fair features 98 stalls, including displays of Jamdani sarees (5 stalls), Nakshi Kantha (2), jute products (8), jewelry (7), leather goods (4), bamboo crafts (2), pottery (1), textiles (31), and traditional food items (20), offering visitors a rich taste of Bangladeshi culture and craftsmanship.
