RAJSHAHI, April 14, (V7N) – The Rajshahi University (RU) campus came alive with color and festivity today as students, teachers, and staff celebrated Pahela Baishakh, welcoming the Bengali New Year 1432 in an inclusive and traditional manner.

The daylong celebration was inaugurated by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Also present were Pro-VCs Prof Mayeen Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Prof Matiar Rahman, Fine Arts Dean Prof Muhammad Ali, Registrar Prof Iftekharul Alam Masud, and Proctor Prof Mahbubur Rahman.

A vibrant Barshabaran Ananda Shobhajatra followed the inauguration, with participants donning colorful traditional attire. The rally, comprising teachers, students, officers, and staff, paraded through the campus streets and concluded back at the Fine Arts premises.

Calling Pahela Baishakh a reflection of Bengali culture, identity, and heritage, VC Naquib emphasized the importance of preserving traditions to build a prosperous and inclusive Bangladesh free from discrimination.

In addition to the procession, the university hosted a daylong cultural programme and Baishakhi Fair. Various socio-cultural organizations on campus also organized separate events to mark the occasion. The Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) joined in the festivities with its own campus-wide celebration.
