Rangamati, Apr 26 (V7N) - A tragic head-on collision between a pickup truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in the Rubber Bagan area of Kaukhali Upazila, Rangamati, has resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to one. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (April 26th). The initial reports did not disclose the names and identities of all the deceased.
FI Ishaq, the in-charge of the Betbunia police outpost in Kaukhali Upazila, confirmed the incident.
According to local sources, the CNG auto-rickshaw (registration number Chattmetto-Th-11-9173) was traveling from Raozan towards Rangamati when it collided head-on with a Mahindra pickup truck (registration number Chattmetto-No-11 6892) heading towards Chittagong in the Chairman Para area of Betbunia, which is situated on the Rangamati-Chittagong Highway. Four individuals died at the scene of the collision. Two others who sustained serious injuries were initially taken to Raozan Upazila Health Complex and subsequently transferred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where one more person succumbed to their injuries.
The identities of three of the deceased have been confirmed as: (1) Torap Hossain, a resident of Chowdhury Para, Raozan, (2) Noon Nahar, a resident of West Monartek, Kaukhali, and (3) Mahmudur Rahman, a resident of Chattarghat Ichapur, Hathazari. The identities of the remaining two victims are yet to be released.
