Tangail, May 17 (V7N) - Journalists in Tangail formed a human chain and held a protest program in front of the Tangail Press Club at around 12 noon on Saturday (May 17) to condemn the recent "terrorist attack" on journalist Ujjwal Mia. Ujjwal Mia serves as the organizing secretary of the National Journalist Torture Prevention Foundation's Tangail district branch and is a staff reporter for the Daily Swadhin Sangbad.

The human chain was presided over by Taijul Islam Tutul, president of the Tangail district branch of the National Journalist Torture Prevention Foundation. Tangail Press Club president Advocate Zafar Ahmed, along with journalists from various print and electronic media outlets and leaders of different organizations, addressed the gathering.

The speakers at the human chain demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of all individuals involved in the attack. They specifically named Kaysar Rezvi Ripon as the identified "terrorist and mastermind" behind the attack, as well as the Shiuli member who allegedly carried out the assault and her son, Shihab, identified as a teenage gang leader, and the younger sons of teenage gang members Shoad, Majidul Islam, and Sohag.

Speakers emphasized that the safety of journalists is paramount, and if it is not ensured, independent journalism will be under threat. They asserted that the "heinous attack" on Ujjwal Mia demonstrates that "evil forces" are attempting to obstruct the dissemination of truthful and objective news.

Issuing an ultimatum for the swift apprehension of the attackers, the journalists warned that if the perpetrators are not promptly arrested and brought to justice, the journalistic community will be compelled to undertake more stringent measures.
