Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, June 13 (V7N) – A four-year-old Rohingya child, Noor Shehera, who was abducted from a camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, has been successfully rescued by the 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBN). Following her abduction, a ransom of five lakh taka (approximately $4,250 USD) had been demanded from the child's family.
The rescued child has been identified as Noor Shehera (4), daughter of Mahmudul Hasan, residing in Block F/9, Camp-1 (West), Lambashia, Ukhiya. The rescue was confirmed by Md. Siraj Amin, Commander of the 14 Armed Police Battalion (Additional DIG).
According to Commander Amin, Noor Shehera was abducted on June 11th at approximately 9 am. She was on her way to visit her grandfather's house in the neighboring Camp-1 (East), E-Block, Kutupalong Lambashiya, when an unknown group of kidnappers seized her.
The kidnappers subsequently contacted the victim's family, demanding the ransom and issuing threats of harm if the family sought assistance from the authorities.
Acting on intelligence from officers overseeing camp operations, APBN police members immediately launched raids in various locations. During the operation, the kidnappers, startled by the police presence, fled the scene, abandoning the child in the Kutupalong camp area.
Commander Amin further stated that the child was found in Kutupalong camp around 9 am on Thursday and was safely handed over to her parents after proper verification.
