Tangail/Rangamati, July 23 (V7N) — In a deeply emotional display of national solidarity, prayer services were held on Wednesday across the country for the victims of the tragic training aircraft crash that claimed the lives of students from Dhaka’s Milestone School and College.

One such gathering took place at the playground of Digulia Shaheed Mizanur Rahman High School, organized to pray for the souls of the deceased and the recovery of the injured. The prayer event was presided over by the school’s head teacher, Md. Anwar Hossain Khan.

The chief guest at the event was Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Central BNP Publicity Secretary and a nomination-seeker for Tangail Sadar-5 in the upcoming national parliamentary elections. Other notable attendees included former District BNP Member Secretary Mahmudul Haque Sanu, District Jubo Dal Convener Khandaker Rashed Alom Rashed, former BNP Organizing Secretary Shafiqul Rahman Shafiq, former District BNP Publicity Secretary A.K.M. Monirul Haque Monir, and BNP leaders Zahid Hossain Mala, Syed Moniruzzaman Jewel, former District Mahila Dal General Secretary Advocate Momtaz Karim, and District Chhatra Dal Convener Durjoy Hor Shuvo.

Following the speeches, collective prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for those who lost their lives in the crash and healing for those injured.

In Rangamati, a parallel prayer service was conducted at the historic Rajban Vihara, where Buddhist monks, community members, and political leaders joined in a solemn spiritual gathering. The special prayer was organized under the leadership of Advocate Dipen Dewan, Central BNP Assistant Secretary for Religious Affairs, with support from the proposed committee of the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front’s Rangamati chapter.

The event was attended by former BNP parliamentary nominee for Constituency 299 Mrs. Maitree Chakma, BNP leaders Manas Mukur Chakma and Headman Prabhat Chakma, retired college teacher and newly joined BNP member Milan Tanchangya, former Vice Chairman of Naniarchar Upazila Rono Bikash Chakma, welfare front leaders Rahul Chakma, Jiku Kumar Dey, VL Pankhua, and Rupak Mallik Ratul, General Secretary of the district’s Nationalist Hindu Student Forum.

During the Buddhist prayer ceremony, Rajban Vihara’s Chief Resident Monk, Venerable Pragyalankar Mahathero, and senior monks led the rituals. Devotees from different areas gathered to express their sympathy and offer blessings to the bereaved families.

These multi-faith gatherings reflect a unified national mourning and a strong demand for improved safety protocols in flight training activities, especially near densely populated areas. Families and communities have called on the government to investigate the incident thoroughly and take preventive measures to ensure no more lives are lost in such tragedies.
