Morelganj, Aug 17 (V7N) — A six-member executive committee has been formed to steer the Freedom Fighters’ Command Council in Morelganj Upazila, Bagerhat. Bir Muktijoddha (Freedom Fighter) Shah Alam Babul has been appointed convener of the new committee.
The appointment was confirmed in a press release signed by M. D. Akbar Azad, Convener of the Bagerhat District Freedom Fighters’ Command, along with member-secretary Md. Ekramul Kabir and deputy-convener M. Abzal Hossain.
The other members of the committee include:
Deputy Convener and Bir Muktijoddha Subedar Abdul Ghaffar
Member Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Md. Tayebur Rahman
Members Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Barik, Bir Muktijoddha Emdadul Haq Talukdar, Bir Muktijoddha Saidur Rahman Talukdar, and Bir Muktijoddha Md. Nasir Ahmed Mallik
The newly formed committee held a consultative meeting with journalists at the Morelganj Press Club at 11 AM on Saturday. Present were President H. M. Moinul Islam, Secretary General Ganesh Pal, Vice-President Jamal Hossain Bappa, former President Moshiur Rahman Masum, and former Joint Secretary General M. Palash Sharif, among others.
Speaking at the meeting, Convener Shah Alam Babul raised concerns that, even after 54 years of independence, many genuine freedom fighters remain omitted from official lists. He highlighted that during previous administrations, party-backed claimants were included in the lists and received benefits such as allowances, while authentic freedom fighters were excluded.
Babul urged the Chief Advisor and advisers of the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters’ Command Council to initiate a thorough re-evaluation and verification of records, ensuring rightful inclusion of excluded freedom fighters in the official lists.
