Jhalokathi, Oct 9 (V7N) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s adviser and former World Bank senior official Dr. Ziauddin Haider Swapon has announced that a BNP government will establish modern rural health centers across the country to ensure accessible healthcare for all citizens.
Speaking at a views-exchange meeting on Thursday afternoon at the Kazi Khalilur Rahman Auditorium of Jhalokathi Press Club, Dr. Haider said that under a BNP-led government, community-based healthcare facilities would be set up in every remote area of each upazila. Citizens will be able to receive free primary healthcare through a proposed “National Health Card.” The centers will also offer child nutrition counseling, diagnostic services for the elderly, and essential prescriptions.
The meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Nationalist Research Center, Jhalokathi District Branch, as part of discussions on BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s 31-point state reform agenda.
Dr. Haider described the 31-point program as a comprehensive national reconstruction blueprint rather than a mere political reform plan. He emphasized that it addresses key sectors such as health, education, environment, economy, and good governance with realistic and people-centered strategies.
He said, “The BNP is committed to transforming Bangladesh into a humane state through a social contract with the people. Our plans for improving education quality, protecting the environment, and creating employment for the youth are practical and people-focused.”
Dr. Haider further stated that the BNP’s vision includes ensuring quality education for every child and guaranteeing healthcare and food security for every citizen. “The people are the true owners of the state,” he said, adding that the 31-point plan was formulated with this belief at its core.
The event was presided over by Advocate Akkas Sikder, President of the Bangladesh Nationalist Research Center, Jhalokathi District Branch. Local political leaders, businesspersons, lawyers, teachers, journalists, social workers, and religious representatives attended the discussion.
Following the event, participants engaged in a question-and-answer session, during which Dr. Haider elaborated on BNP’s sectoral plans and reiterated the party’s vision: “We want to build a Bangladesh where the basic rights of all citizens are guaranteed and no one is left behind.”
