Mongla, Oct 10 (V7N) – The Mongla unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) distributed leaflets on Thursday to raise public awareness about the party’s 31-point reform agenda, announced by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The campaign was led by Mongla Municipal BNP President and former Mayor Md. Zulfikar Ali, who is also seeking nomination from the Mongla-Rampal parliamentary constituency. The leaflet distribution continued from morning to evening across various parts of the municipal area.

Speaking to reporters, Zulfikar Ali said the program aimed to inform people from all walks of life about the significance of the 31-point proposal. “Tarique Rahman introduced these 31 points nearly two years ago to rebuild the state and restore good governance. Many of the ongoing reform discussions across the country are directly aligned with his vision,” he added.

Zulfikar Ali emphasized that implementing these points would ensure democracy and transparency in governance. “We are working at the grassroots level to realize this vision,” he said.

Reflecting on his political journey, Ali noted that he has long been involved in BNP politics and was elected mayor of Mongla even during the Awami League’s tenure. “I have stood by the party and our activists for the past 17 years despite political adversity. I believe I have the capability, experience, and public support to win the Mongla-Rampal constituency if the party nominates me,” he said.

He further added, “Even if I am not nominated, I will continue to work for the BNP candidate to ensure victory for the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol.”
