Rangamati, Oct 11 (V7N) – Everyone in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region desires to live together in a spirit of harmony, said Supradip Chakma, Advisor to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs. “We want to send the message that we wish to remain united in harmony. This harmony is fundamental, and it allows all of us to live together peacefully in the hill areas,” he said.
The remarks were made on Friday night, October 10, following the inauguration of the Cheebar weaving for the 51st Kathin Cheebar Donation Ceremony at Rangapani Milon Vihara in Rangamati town.
When asked by journalists about the current situation in the hills, the advisor noted, “You are present here and understand the situation best. This year, the Kathin Cheebar donation has begun, and we all feel it is necessary. No one should be excluded on religious, social, or any other grounds. Participation from everyone is important, and harmony is essential. Nothing is more important than maintaining unity and harmony.”
Earlier in the evening, Supradip Chakma inaugurated the Cheebar weaving process and took part in the Panchsheel prayer ceremony. He also visited the Cheebar weaving hall and later released sky lanterns in honor of the Chulamani Temple’s worship activities.
Rangamati District Council Chairman Kajal Talukdar was also present during the event. The ceremony highlighted the importance of cultural unity and collective participation in religious traditions, reinforcing the message of coexistence and harmony in the hill districts.
The Kathin Cheebar Donation Ceremony, a significant event for the Buddhist community, emphasizes charitable giving, cultural heritage, and communal solidarity, serving as a unifying occasion for residents of the region.
