Ishwardi, Oct 20 (V7N) – Police recovered the body of Anwar Ahmed, a 52-year-old interpreter working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project, from a rented residence in Diyar Sahapur, Sahapur Union, Ishwardi Upazila, on Saturday night at 11 p.m.
According to local sources, Anwar Ahmed, son of the late Abdul Khalek from East Nasirabad, Chittagong, had been residing for nearly a year at Habibur Rahman Habu’s house in Diyar Sahapur. He had worked as an interpreter for the Russian company Nikimth for eight years. Recently, he visited his family in Chittagong with his wife for a ten-day leave. On Saturday afternoon around 3 p.m., he returned alone to his rented residence in Ishwardi after dropping his wife off in Chittagong.
Later that night, when his wife could not reach him by phone, she asked Sabina Yasmin, a neighbor, to check on him. Upon entering the house, Sabina found Anwar Ahmed unconscious on the floor, holding a floor cleaning cloth. Neighbors immediately informed the police.
Police arrived at the scene, recorded a statement, and recovered the body, which was sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
OC of Ishwardi Police Station, A.S.M. Abdun Nur, confirmed that the incident is under investigation. He added that the cause of death cannot be confirmed at this moment and will be determined after the autopsy report is available.
