Barguna, Nov 08 (V7N) — In a unique initiative to encourage teenagers and young people to participate in prayers and mosque activities, the youth community of Patharghata upazila has taken steps to reduce mobile phone addiction and promote religious engagement.
The event took place at Hawlader Bari Jame Mosque in Ward No. 3 of Nachnapara Union. Before Friday Jumma prayers, participating youths were recognized and awarded for their efforts to attend prayers and engage in religious activities. The awards were presented by Maulana Ziaur Rahman, the mosque’s Khatib, Maulana Ariful Islam, Secretary of the Nachnapara Union Imam Association, and Md. Ferdous, President of Barguna Municipal Chhatra Shibir.
Maulana Ziaur Rahman emphasized the importance of prayer in guiding children and adolescents away from mobile phone addiction and other distractions. “There is no substitute for Salah in bringing youth back to Islam. I sincerely thank those who organized this unique initiative. If such efforts continue across our communities, we can eliminate anti-social behavior and strengthen religious values,” he said.
Maulana Ariful Islam added, “Prayer protects individuals from immoral acts, as emphasized in the Quran. This is our second initiative to engage youth in Salah and encourage mosque attendance. With everyone’s cooperation, it has been successfully implemented. We pray that Allah accepts our humble efforts in the path of Islam.”
The program highlighted community-driven efforts to instill discipline, religious commitment, and moral values among the younger generation in Patharghata.
