Pabna, Feb 11 (V7N) - A mobile court on Tuesday fined a worker of a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Tk 10,000 for violating the election code of conduct in the Pabna-3 constituency.
The convicted person, Barat Hossain (22), son of Anwar Hossain of Char Bhangura village, was found campaigning after the stipulated deadline. He is a trained Ansar VDP member.
The verdict was delivered by Bhangura Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman on Tuesday (February 10) morning.
According to local administration sources, as per Election Commission rules, all election campaigning was banned from 7:30 am on Tuesday. However, around 10:00 am, Barat Hossain was seen campaigning in Char Bhangura village of Sadar Union, distributing voter slips containing the candidate’s photo, electoral symbol and name.
Local residents informed the administration, following which officials rushed to the spot, verified the allegations, seized the voter slips and conducted a mobile court operation.
Executive Magistrate Mizanur Rahman said Barat Hossain was fined under Section 27(a) for violating Section 8(b) of the National Assembly Election Code of Conduct 2025, for continuing campaign activities beyond the permitted time.
