Narsingdi, Feb 12, (V7N): A rare scene of camaraderie marked the electoral contest in Narsingdi-1 (Sadar) constituency this morning, as three rival candidates were seen engaging in friendly conversation and light-hearted banter.
Paddy Sheaf candidate Khairul Kabir Khokon, Scale symbol candidate Md. Ibrahim Bhuiyan, and Gono Odhikar Parishad candidate Advocate Shirin Akter were observed chatting together in a cordial atmosphere around 9:30 am at the field of Rajadi High School in Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
The interaction drew the attention of voters and supporters present at the venue. Despite being political rivals, the candidates exchanged greetings and playful remarks, reflecting mutual respect. At one point, one candidate jokingly told another, “We are people in favour of a mass uprising,” prompting laughter among those gathered.
Voters said the friendly exchange added to the festive mood of the election. Many felt that such gestures of courtesy among competitors send a positive message for democracy and political tolerance. Several bystanders were seen capturing the moment on their mobile phones.
Observers noted that such displays of goodwill can help foster a more constructive and tolerant political culture, even amid competitive contests.
Voters in the area expressed hope that the peaceful and respectful atmosphere would continue throughout the remainder of the election.
