JHALAKATHI, Feb 16, (V7N) - Students of Nesaria Salehiya Dinia Cadet Madrasa brought festive cheer to Kaikhali Bazar in Kathalia Upazila on Monday morning with a colorful procession welcoming the holy month of Ramadan.
The rally began from the madrasa grounds, paraded through local roads, and concluded with a short gathering back at the madrasa. Participants chanted slogans such as “Ahlan Sahlan – Mahe Ramadan” and “Protect the sanctity of Ramadan”, while calling for price control of essentials, curbs on obscenity, and closure of cinema halls during the holy month.
Md. Ali Chaprashi, a student, said: “It is natural for a student to cherish not only modern culture, but also Islamic culture.” Madrasa head Maulana Mufti Md. Kamal Hossain added: “Ensuring religious freedom is the responsibility of the state. We urge the government to keep prices affordable and provide subsidies if necessary.”
The event was attended by religious leaders including Maulana Mufti Nazmul Haque, Hafez Muhammad Nurunnabi Hossain, Maulana Obaidul Haque, Maulana Al Amin, and guardians alongside nearly 500 students.
The procession ended with the distribution of dates among participants, symbolizing unity and devotion as Ramadan approaches.
