Jhalokathi, Feb 22 (V7N) – The people of Bangladesh have repeatedly had to sacrifice their lives on the streets to drive out fascism and authoritarianism. Even today, many mothers have not been reunited with their sons, and many children are still waiting for their fathers to return. BNP leader Ilias Ali and many other leaders remain disappeared.

These remarks were made by the newly elected Member of Parliament for Jhalokathi-1 (Kathalia–Rajapur), Md. Rafiqul Islam Jamal.

He made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting held on February 21 at 11:00 am at the Kathalia Upazila Parishad Auditorium, marking Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

The meeting was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Maqbul Hossain. Among others who spoke at the event were Upazila Livestock Officer Md. Jamser Ali, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Tapas Talukdar, Upazila Family Planning Officer Md. Abu Sufian, Kathalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Haran Chandra Pal, Acting President of Upazila BNP Md. Jalalur Rahman Akon, General Secretary Md. Aktar Hossain Nizam Mirbahar, and Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Kamrul Islam.

Government officials, freedom fighters, public representatives, journalists, teachers, distinguished citizens, and political leaders were present at the meeting.
