Feb 18 (V7N) – A daring late-night theft in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi has sparked panic and outrage after six cows were stolen from the residence of a Union Parishad (UP) member.
The incident occurred at the house of a member of the Nizamia Shanu community in the upazila. According to family sources, the stolen livestock includes three red Australian Friesian cows and three black cows. Among the red cows, two calves were also taken—one just seven days old and another around one and a half years old. Of the black cows, one had a calf slightly over one and a half years old and another only one month old.
Family members said the cows were secured in the barn at night before they went to sleep. The theft was discovered early in the morning when they found the barn empty. It is suspected that the miscreants broke the lock of the cowshed under the cover of darkness and fled with the animals.
Following the incident, local residents launched a search in surrounding areas, but no trace of the stolen cows was found. The shocking theft has created a sensation across the locality, raising concerns about security.
The victim’s family said they are preparing to file a formal complaint with Rajapur Police Station. They have also appealed to the public for assistance, requesting anyone with information regarding the stolen cows or suspicious activity to contact 01747695955 or 01726468618.
Confirming the matter, Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Nazrul Islam said police have already inspected the scene and will take legal action upon receiving an official complaint.
