Rain has begun to herald the early signs of the monsoon. The frogs have started croaking with the arrival of new water. Despite a long dry spell, a day of drizzle in Chapainawabganj has brought immense joy among the frogs. The fresh rainwater has created a congregation of frogs in various water bodies across the region. The surroundings are filled with the calls of frogs of different colors.

On Thursday (May 23) afternoon, countless frogs gathered in a previously dry pond filled with rainwater in Palsha village of Baliadanga Union in the Sadar Upazila. In a small space, the colorful frogs made a cacophony of croaks. Such scenes and sounds of frogs are rare in rural areas these days. Therefore, this gathering of frogs and their croaking have brought a timeless glimpse of nature.

Although colorful frogs are now almost extinct and rarely seen, it is known that the rainy season is their breeding period, during which they can occasionally be spotted. These colorful frogs are known as golden frogs. The golden-colored frogs are males, while the green-colored frogs are females. Typically, it is the male frogs that do the croaking.
