Due to Cyclone Remale, approximately 10,000 residents from the low-lying areas of Cox's Bazar have sought refuge in shelters.

On Sunday night, May 26, Cox's Bazar District Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Shahin Imran and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mahfuzul Islam distributed food among those taking shelter. The District Commissioner informed Journalists that 10,000 people are currently in shelters. The Cox's Bazar District Administration is providing food and clean drinking water of the shelters. Additionally, lighting and security arrangements have been established at the shelters.

At the Cox's Bazar Municipal Preparatory High School shelter, 1,500 people from the low-lying areas of Samiti, Nazirartek, Basinna, and Mostak were seen taking refuge. The district administration distributed food to them.

According to sources from the district administration, there are reserves of 486 metric tons of GR rice, 275,000 taka in cash, 1.823 million taka in the district disaster management fund, 29 bundles of corrugated tin sheets, and 69,000 taka allocated for house construction labor costs. So far, no significant damage has been reported in Cox's Bazar district. Assistance will be provided to those affected once damage assessments are completed.

Additionally, it was reported that the Cox's Bazar Municipality has arranged to cook food for 6,000 people.

Meanwhile, Cyclone Remale has started crossing the coast at Khepupara in Patuakhali. There are concerns that the low-lying areas of Cox's Bazar may be inundated by tidal waves at night.
