Four days have passed since Cyclone Remal struck, leaving hundreds of villages in Koira, Dakop, and Paikgacha upazilas of Khulna submerged. The Water Development Board (PUBO) and locals have been tirelessly working for three days to repair the broken parts of the dam in these areas.

However, despite their efforts, the repaired dams collapse under the pressure of the afternoon tide, flooding surrounding villages. Town officials and locals report that dams broke at eight points in three upazilas of Khulna due to the cyclone's impact, inundating hundreds of houses, fish enclosures, and crop fields.

Although repairs have been completed at five points, water continues to seep through the broken dams at Dashalia in Maharajpur union of Koira, Dakshin Kaminibasia in Tildanga union of Dakop, and Perikhali village in Deluti union in Paikgacha. Despite ongoing efforts to repair the dams, challenges persist, with alternate dams collapsing under tidal pressure, exacerbating the flooding situation.

Khulna's PUBO Executive Engineer-2, Ashraful Alam, highlights the importance of constructing alternative dams to mitigate water ingress temporarily, with plans for permanent repairs in the future.
