Kalapara June 12,(V7N)- Residents of Kalapara in Patuakhali organized a human chain demanding the construction of a bridge. The lack of a bridge over the Boroitola River adjacent to Pyarapur Amena Khatun Government Primary School in the upazila has been causing continuous suffering for the local people. The villagers' only means of crossing is a bamboo bridge.

Those engaged in agriculture and fishing incur extra costs by taking alternative routes to transport their goods. Additionally, crossing the bamboo bridge is a hassle for students, women, and the elderly. Hence, a human chain was organized at 9:30 AM on Wednesday under the banner of all residents of Dalbuganj Union in the upazila, demanding a bridge over the Boroitola River. About 500 men and women, including local students, participated in the hour-long program.

Speakers at the event included Dalbuganj Union Parishad Chairman Maulana Hedayet Ullah Jihadi, Headmaster of Amena Khatun Government Primary School Md. Alomgir Hossain, veteran homeopathic doctor Md. Anwar Hossain Ghazi, and local residents Md. Shamsul Haque and Abid Hasan, among others.

The speakers said that the construction of the bridge would improve communication systems. They urged the authorities concerned to construct a bridge over the Boroitola River to alleviate long-standing sufferings.
