Pabna June 13,(V7N)- In commemoration of World Environment Day 2024, various initiatives were undertaken by the Rashtriya Atomic Energy Commission (RAEC) of Russia in collaboration with the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. From June 5th to June 8th, a four-day program was organized in the Pabna and Ishwardi regions, featuring a series of events aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues.
 
The events included seminars and discussions focusing on carbon-neutral energy, with active participation from over four thousand local residents. One of the highlights was a seminar organized at Pabna University of Science and Technology, where experts from both countries shared insights on ecological sustainability and environmental conservation.
 
Dr. Muhammad Rashedul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment at Pabna University of Science and Technology, emphasized the significance of the seminar in dispelling misconceptions among students about the environment and nuclear energy.
 
Following the seminar at RAEC, a separate event was held at the Ishwardi Nuclear Information Center, involving students from local schools. The event aimed to educate students on the creative use of recyclable materials, such as plastic bottles and newspapers, to create useful and aesthetic items.
 
Additionally, a "Trash to Treasure Challenge" was organized at Ishwardi Government College, where participants demonstrated their creativity by repurposing various items into new products. Furthermore, an educational cartoon titled "Tomorrow" was screened for students, focusing on environmental conservation.
 
One of the highlights of the program was a theatrical performance at Ishwardi, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and nuclear energy as a clean source of power.
 
Furthermore, the Ishwardi Municipality organized an eco-friendly fair for the local community, featuring sustainable products and initiatives. Additionally, students from fifteen schools received manuals on "Carbon-Free Future" to facilitate interactive sessions on environmental issues.
 
Nina Demenchukova, Head of the Communications Department at Rosatom, expressed the importance of environmental issues in the context of their involvement in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project. She emphasized their commitment to national programs aimed at environmental sustainability and praised the active participation of the public in such initiatives.
 
Overall, the World Environment Day 2024 celebrations underscored the collaborative efforts between Russia and Bangladesh in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
