Kalapara June 16,(V7N)- Following the Saudi Arabian calendar, 25,000 people from 21 villages in Tuakhali, who are followers of the Chandtpuri sect, are celebrating one of the major Islamic festivals, Eid-Al-Adha. The main Eid congregation took place at 7 a.m. on Sunday in the courtyard of Jahagiria Shahsufi Momtazia Darbar Sharif in Uttor Nishanbariya of the Dhankhali Union in Kalapara.
 
Additionally, Eid congregations were held in 4 villages of the Sadar Upazila, 7 villages of Kalapara, 2 villages of Rangabali, 3 villages of Galachipa, 2 villages of Dumki, and 3 villages of Bauphal Upazila. From the morning, a festive atmosphere prevailed in these villages in celebration of Eid.
 
Locally, they are known as followers of the Elahabad Sufia and Chandtpuri from Chattogram. They have been celebrating Eid early in line with Saudi Arabia for nearly 100 years.
