Mirzapur, June 25 (V7N)- A grenade was discovered while renovating a pond in Mirzapur, Tangail. On Monday night, the police recovered the grenade from Delwar Hossain's pond in Paharpur village, Ward 7 of the municipal area.

News of the grenade spread quickly, causing alarm among local residents. Upon receiving the information, the police retrieved the grenade, attracting a crowd of curious onlookers. According to the police, they learned about the grenade through a call to emergency number 999 and subsequently recovered it from Delwar Hossain's pond. They believe the grenade might date back to the 1971 Liberation War.

Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rezaul Karim stated that, after receiving the call on 999, the grenade was safely secured. He added that, due to its age, the grenade is no longer functional.
