Sylhet, July 8 (V8N)- A group of young scholars from the organization "Humanitarian Unit" has distributed dry food items to nearly 300 families affected by the devastating floods in various areas of Zakiganj for the third consecutive time.

Their activities began at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2024, with food distribution first in Sabaria, Zakiganj, and then in Kajolshah Union No. 3. It is known that the Talk Eidhomoshdofbongjo Ufonpdorhor (TalkEU) and expatriates funded the food items, with each package containing 2/1 kg of puffed rice, 1 kg of flattened rice, 250 grams of sugar, 1/2 kg of biscuits, and oral saline along with necessary medicines, which were delivered to the flood-affected people. Present at the time were the honorable Chairman of Kajolshah Union No. 3, Ashraful Ambia, and other distinguished individuals from the area.

When asked about the "Humanitarian Unit," one of the executive committee members, Md. Zahedur Rahman, an economics student at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, said, "Since 2021, the 'Humanitarian Unit' has been tirelessly working in various areas of the country, including Zakiganj, serving humanity.

We try to reach people's doorsteps during critical times, with initiatives like Ramadan gifts, Eid gifts, winter clothing distribution campaigns, and educational support. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the floods of '22, and this year's floods, we had the opportunity to work on a larger scale.

Recently, when a destitute laborer's leg was severely affected by a disease, we arranged for his leg operation and all necessary medicines. In the future, we are committed to expanding our activities and playing a leading role in human welfare with our 70-member team of the 'Humanitarian Unit.'"

Regarding fund collection, he mentioned, "From the beginning, we have primarily operated with the help of expatriates. This time, alongside expatriates, Talk Eidhomoshdofbongjo Ufonpdorhor (TalkEU) funded the relief materials. We express our gratitude to them and everyone else involved."

Chairman Ashraful Ambia said, "Such initiatives by young people during their student years truly captivate me. I hope the Humanitarian Unit will continue their activities in this manner. Such enthusiasm among the youth is essential to face the challenges of the twenty-first century." Others present also praised their initiative and wished for the continued success of the Humanitarian Unit.

Among other members of the Humanitarian Unit present were Mansur Ahmad Tapadar, Mohsin Ahmad, Sufiyan Ahmad, Sadikur Rahman, Salik Ahmad, Husain Ahmad, Kutubuzzaman Daud, Mansur Ahmad, Tanbira Laskar, Salman Ahmad Saif, Habibul Bashar, Layes Ahmad, Sultan Ahmad Akash, Gias Uddin, Wahabul Islam, Oliur Rahman, Rabel Ahmad, Zahid Uddin, Zakir Ahmad, Zafran Ahmad, Dilwar Ahmad, and others.
