Kurigram, July 11 (V7N) - In Chilmari, Kurigram, despite the Brahmaputra river's water levels having recently decreased, there has been an unexpected rise again, exacerbating the flood situation in the area.
Jobair Hossen, a correspondent for the Water Development Board (Paubow), reported that as of Thursday noon, the Brahmaputra's water level was 50 centimeters above the danger mark.
Initially, about 36,000 people were affected by the floods, but due to the recent unexpected rise in water levels, the number has increased to approximately 50,000 affected individuals.
M. Mosharrof Hossen, an Upazila Project Implementation Officer, stated that the government has already allocated 66 metric tons of rice and cash amounting to 360,000 taka to assist those affected.
