Khulna, Aug 08 (V7N) — In Khulna, students are taking significant risks to help maintain road order. Alongside school, college, university, and madrasa students, members of Islami Andolan Bangladesh and Nichsar are actively involved in managing traffic and maintaining order.

Additionally, Rover Scouts, UTC, and Girl Guide members from various educational institutions are assisting with traffic control and cleanliness efforts. Ansar and VDP members are also participating in these tasks.

The local residents appreciate their efforts. Aleya Begum, a resident of Nirala, Khulna, commended the inclusion of Ansar and VDP alongside the army for their commendable work.

With no traffic police currently available in Khulna, these volunteers are working diligently to regulate traffic and enforce traffic laws. They have organized the road into separate lanes for ambulances, rickshaws, private vehicles, and motorcycles to alleviate congestion. Motorcyclists are also being required to wear helmets.

On Thursday, these student-led activities were observed across various parts of Khulna city. Following Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and departure from the Prime Ministerial position on Monday, police were attacked and subsequently did not return to their duties, causing significant traffic jams at key intersections. In response, students have taken the initiative to restore order. Today, traffic increased at Mylapoto junction, where a group of students is helping to organize vehicle movement. They are instructing easybikes to stop and pick up passengers, while another group is managing traffic towards Nirala and Shibbari.

Azam Khan Commerce College students Arif, Nusrat, and Iman reported that, due to the absence of traffic police, they have been working since morning to maintain traffic flow. They noted that some drivers are deliberately driving on the wrong side and are working to persuade them to follow the rules.

In addition to traffic management, students from various institutions are also engaged in cleaning activities. They are sweeping the streets and removing litter. Similar cleaning efforts were observed yesterday in different city areas.

Madrasah student Helal Ahmed expressed that their commitment to an orderly nation transcends religious differences. He emphasized that Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, and followers of all religions must unite to build a better country together.
