Cox’s Bazar, Sep 15 (V7N) – Bangladesh Railway has extended the operation of the Cox’s Bazar Special Train on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar route for an additional month. The extension will last from September 16 to October 15, according to an announcement from the Eastern Railway Division on September 11.

The special train service was first introduced on April 8, ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Due to strong passenger demand, it continued for 52 days post-Eid before being suspended on May 30 due to crew and engine shortages. The service was later resumed as an Eid Special from June 12 for Eid-ul-Azha.

The Cox’s Bazar Special Train consists of 16 coaches with a total of 743 seats, and it generates a daily revenue of Tk 176,350, excluding standing ticket sales. The high demand for tickets reflects the train's popularity among passengers.

Residents of Cox’s Bazar have urged the railway authorities to maintain the service, citing it as the most convenient and economical option for travel to Chattogram. Additionally, there have been protests from bus operators who claim that the train's operation impacts their business.
