Dhaka, July 06 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has rejected allegations that his party is against reform, calling BNP a “clean political party.” Speaking at a press conference at the BNP office in Gulshan on Sunday morning, he said a cunning group is spreading this narrative, and the public must understand the motives behind such claims.
Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that BNP’s goal is clear: to restore democracy, which he accused Sheikh Hasina’s government of undermining over the past 15 years. “Those who want to delay the elections are not pro-democracy forces,” he stated.
Addressing the Consensus Commission’s work, he acknowledged both public interest and concerns, affirming BNP’s support for the commission’s efforts to reach a fair decision based on reasoned arguments.
On the July Declaration, Mirza Fakhrul said BNP has already shared its views and that no further discussions have occurred since. However, the party remains open to dialogue on the matter.
