In Ghumdhum Union in Naikoshyongchari Upazila of Bandarban, Bangladesh, the five government primary schools that had been temporarily shuttered for 23 days in a row will reopen on Wednesday, according to the authorities.

The voice7 news Correspondent received confirmation of this information on Tuesday night from Triratan Chakma, the primary education officer for Naikoshyongchari Upazila. According to him, the reopening of five government elementary schools is a result of the border situation becoming more normal. The schools were shuttered on Wednesday, February 28.
owing to the civil strife in Myanmar, primary schools were closed as of January 29 owing to security issues in Ghumdhum Union's border territories.
On February 4, a mortar round thrown from the Myanmar border killed two persons, including a woman from Bangladesh. Following this, two schools along the Ghumdhum border were designated as shelters by the authorities.

The District Administration and Primary Education Department announced on February 5 that the following Ghumdhum Union schools would be temporarily closed: Baispari Government Primary School, Vaja Bania Government Primary School, Tumbru Government Primary School, Tumbru Passim Kul Government Primary School, and Dakkhin Ghumdhum Government Primary School. This decision was made in response to two fatalities.
