Khagrachari, Jan 20 (V7N) - The 'Dochhari Para Private Primary School' in Manikchhari Upazila, Khagrachari, continues to educate despite crumbling infrastructure, exposing students and teachers to harsh weather conditions. Established in 2016 by local initiatives, the school has grown to serve 60 students from remote areas, with plans to enroll more in the coming year. However, the lack of basic facilities, including proper classrooms, toilets, and furniture, makes it difficult to maintain a conducive learning environment.
Students and parents expressed concerns over water leakage, unsafe structures, and long, treacherous commutes on dirt roads. Despite these challenges, five dedicated teachers persist in their efforts, often with minimal pay. Headmaster Hemant Chakma and School President Debaran Chakma have urged authorities to nationalize the school and address pressing infrastructure needs.
Local education officials stated that the school is part of a broader proposal for nationalization and infrastructure development. Upazila Executive Officer Tahmina Afroz Bhuiyan assured steps would be taken to improve the situation.
