Kushtia, Feb 09, (V7N) - Locals near Islamic University (IU) blocked the Kushtia-Khulna highway on Saturday, protesting against the potential relocation of the IU police station to Jhaudia.
The protesters made it clear, saying, "We will not allow the Islamic University police station to be moved to Jhaudia. If an authority figure comes and speaks with us, we will lift the blockade conditionally." IU students voiced their support for the locals’ demands.
Professor Dr. Rashiduzzaman, Chair of the Department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism, stated, "We are here on behalf of the five unions, as various conspiracies are underway to shift the IU police station to Jhaudia. We will never let this conspiracy succeed."
SM Sweet, IU Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, added, "While administrative activities in Jhaudia can continue differently, the police station within the Islamic University must remain here to ensure student safety."
