On Saturday (March 2nd), a school banking conference was conducted here with the goal of increasing the program's popularity and efficacy. This aligns with the government's purpose of expanding banking services to promote broader financial inclusion.

Organized by Bangladesh Bank (BB) as part of its Financial Education Programme, the conference saw participation from school students sponsored by One Bank Private Company Limited. Teachers and students from most high schools under 46 scheduled banks in the city attended the event at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium.

BB Executive Director Rup Ratan Pain graced the conference as the chief guest, with BB Directors Niamul Kabir and Shamsul Arefin joining as special guests. One Bank's Head of Operation, Mirza Ajher Ahmed, chaired the event.

Various dignitaries from BB and different banks, including Agrani Bank, Janata Bank, and Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, also addressed the gathering. They highlighted the significance of the school banking system in instilling savings habits among students, ultimately contributing to their financial security in the future.

The programme's main objective is to cultivate a culture of savings among students through the opening of school banking accounts.

Prior to the conference, a vibrant rally was organized on the city streets from the BB office premises. Hundreds of school students and bank officials participated, marching to the conference venue, showcasing strong support for the school banking initiative.
