Professor Mohammad Badruzzaman Bhuiyan has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Barishal University for a term of four years, according to an official order issued by the education ministry on Monday. He will serve as the 4th VC of BU, succeeding Prof Sadequl Arefin, whose term ended on November 5, 2023.

Prof Badruzzaman Bhuiyan previously served as a professor in the department of tourism and hospitality management at the University of Dhaka. Additionally, he held the position of treasurer at Barishal University, where he performed routine duties of the VC after Prof Arefin's term ended.

Born in Aushtagram, Kishoreganj, Prof Bhuiyan has also been actively involved in various governing bodies, including the Bangladesh Tourism Board and the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management.
