Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has been shut down indefinitely following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of two of its students. The decision was made at an emergency meeting of the 151st academic council, chaired by the Vice Chancellor.

In response to the devastating loss, CUET authorities have instructed male students to vacate their hostels by 5 pm, while female students have been asked to leave by 9 am the following day. Acting University Registrar Prof. Dr. Mohammad Humayun Kabir announced the closure of all academic activities, including examinations, for both graduate and undergraduate students.

To facilitate the departure of students from the campus, university buses will operate between the campus and the city. However, tensions flared as agitated students set fire to another passenger bus near the CUET campus in protest against the tragic incident.

Police are present at the scene to maintain order and control the situation. The closure of CUET reflects the profound impact of the accident on the university community, as students and faculty mourn the loss of their peers.
