The Ministry of Education has announced that all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will reopen and resume academic activities starting Sunday. This directive, issued on Thursday, follows instructions from the chief adviser of the interim government.
The institutions had been closed indefinitely on July 17 due to safety concerns following clashes during the protests demanding reforms to the job quota system. Although an initial plan was made to resume classes on August 4 in government primary schools, excluding those in the 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipality, this was postponed.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government amid the protests, a new decision was taken to reopen schools on August 7. However, regular classes have not fully resumed, and student attendance has remained low.
Additionally, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education directed the full reopening of primary schools and the resumption of classroom activities on Wednesday.
