MBSTU, Aug 28 (V7N) - Students of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) have launched various initiatives to support those affected by recent flooding.

Following the flash floods in southeastern Bangladesh, MBSTU students have mobilized to provide relief. Starting from August 21st, they began organizing efforts to aid the flood victims. Initially, they set up collection drives across the campus, including in campus halls, shops, markets, and residential areas.

Their efforts expanded to a public rally aimed at encouraging community support for the flood victims. This 'Mass Program,' held at Shaheed Minar in Tangail city’s Nirala Mor, saw enthusiastic participation from people of all backgrounds, including the wealthy, the poor, the young, the elderly, and individuals from different religious communities. The response demonstrated a remarkable spirit of unity, with people contributing their donations to the students.

The relief items organized include rice, lentils, potatoes, onions, soybean oil, drinking water, dry food (such as puffed rice, flattened rice, and biscuits), mustard oil, salt, sugar, sanitary napkins, soap, detergent, baby food, powdered milk, noodles, lighters, candles, medicines, and saline solution. Each relief packet is guaranteed to contain these essentials.

Additionally, students have set up a collection point for clothing donations in the guest room adjacent to the MBSTU campus hall.

According to MBSTU coordinators:

The students have raised a total of Tk 1,697,560 in cash.
They have also collected daily necessities worth approximately Tk 500,000.
The students of MBSTU are committed to ensuring that all collected donations are properly delivered to the flood victims. Packaging of the relief items is currently underway.
